The St. Pete Pier at golden hour feels almost cinematic — the soft waterfront light, the skyline glowing in the background, palm trees swaying along the boardwalk, and the energy of downtown St. Petersburg surrounding you. It was the perfect setting for Nico’s surprise proposal to Taylor.
From the moment they walked onto the pier together, you could feel the anticipation building. Taylor looked effortlessly elegant in a timeless black dress while Nico kept things classic and relaxed in neutral tones that complemented the airy waterfront backdrop perfectly. Their outfits paired so naturally with the clean architecture and soft pastel skies that the entire evening felt straight out of a movie.
One of my favorite parts about photographing proposals is the emotion that unfolds naturally in real time. The nervous excitement beforehand, the instant joy after the question is asked, and then the quiet moments afterward when everything finally sinks in. Nico and Taylor were completely wrapped up in each other, which made documenting their connection feel incredibly genuine and effortless.
Her family was also there for the big moment which was so sweet. We wandered through several areas of the pier afterward, capturing a mix of intimate close-ups, editorial-style portraits, and wide scenic shots featuring the downtown St. Pete skyline.
As the sun began to set, the light turned soft and dreamy, giving their gallery the most romantic glow. Some of my favorite images from the evening were the quiet in-between moments: hands intertwined along the railing, the way Taylor looked at Nico after saying yes, and the laughter they shared while soaking in the excitement of becoming engaged.
Nico + Taylor’s proposal session was such a beautiful reminder that the simplest moments often become the most meaningful memories. The St. Pete Pier created the perfect backdrop for the beginning of this next chapter, and I’m so honored I got to document it all.
